The sculpture trail will go live in the summer of 2022 and for 10 weeks the horses will attract visitors and local residents to the streets, open spaces and public areas of Burton.
There will be a printed map of the trail and also an app helping people to plot a route around the trail, discover the story behind each sculpture, its artist and its sponsor. The app will give them the chance to be tourists in their own town, discovering new places and unlocking rewards offered by project sponsors.
After the trail closes, the sculptures will be auctioned off to the highest bidders. All the proceeds will go to Burton Mind. The auction following our first trail raised more than £11,600 for its charity partner. Sponsors will be able to bid for their own horse, or someone else’s, because the aim of the event is to raise as much money as possible for Burton Mind, the mental health charity. The auction will be an opportunity to own one of the uniquely-decorated horses and showcase a beautiful piece of art in your workplace. It will provide a talking point for your employees and customers as well as demonstrating your support for this positive project that will get people talking about Burton for all the right reasons.
